Pregnancy Symptoms
Common pregnancy symptoms:
How do you know if you’re really pregnant? The early signs of pregnancy include:
• Missed period
• Nausea with or without vomiting
• Tender, swollen breasts
• Increased urination
• Fatigue
• Food aversions or cravings1
You will want more proof than these symptoms, however, and our Women’s Centers will provide medical-quality pregnancy tests so that you can know for sure. Call the Women’s Center near you for your confidential appointment and free pregnancy test.
How soon should I get a pregnancy test?
A pregnancy test works by identifying the HCG pregnancy hormone, which may be detected as early as 7 days after conception. If you’ve missed a period, go ahead and schedule a pregnancy test. For the most accurate results, wait one week after a missed period.
Can I trust the results of the pregnancy test at your center?
We use laboratory-quality pregnancy tests. The manufacturer of the tests advertises a 99 percent accuracy rate.
My pregnancy test was negative—but I still don’t have my period. Should I have a second test?
Yes, make another appointment for a second free pregnancy test. The HCG hormone doubles every 2 days during the first three months of pregnancy.
I’ve had two negative pregnancy tests—but no period. What should I do now?
See your health care provider for assessment. If you need a referral or help finding a provider, our Women’s Center staff can help.
